Edna Luise Biesold is a German-born and New York-based independent filmmaker. 

She is a member of cinematographersxx and a recipient of the Franz Wieser Grant from ARRI as Director of Photography for the fantasy short film THE MOLOK, featuring live-action puppetry and practical effects. 

Edna honed her craft at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts on the Dean's fellowship with a focus on cinematography. She is a traveler and language enthusiast and has shot projects across the globe. She also holds a Graduate degree in Linguistics and Literature studies, and she is Co-Writer and Co-Director of THE COLOR OF TIME, a feature film about Pulitzer Prize winner C.K. Williams.

Currently, Edna is developing 3 MONKEYS, a screenplay uniting hearing, CODA, and Deaf characters. It earned her a Creative Career Design Fellowship from NYU's Production Lab in 2022. 

Her latest short film, SUNSCREEN, is told in American Sign Language, and it has won her the Best Narrative Short award at 1904 Deaf Film Festival and the Audience Choice Award for Best Short Comedy at Sedona International Film Festival. Edna also won the Excellence in Directing award from NYWFT at Soho International Film Festival. The film is streaming on VSYN+.

In 2023, she produced ZEITLANG in Switzerland. It is her feature-length solo debut as Director.
