Edna Luise Biesold is a German born and New York based filmmaker. She is a member of cinematographersxx and a recent recipient of the Franz Wieser Grant from ARRI for short film THE MOLOK, written by Sam T. Wilson & Xander Chauncey.
After earning a master's degree in Literature and Linguistics, Edna started making short films, received the Dean's fellowship at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and graduated in 2015 with an MFA in Filmmaking.
Shortly after, she shot her first feature film, VIRAL BEAUTY, with collaborators Casey Killoran and David T. Lam, graduates from the Acting program at NYU. The film premiered in early 2017 and is being distributed online.
She also co-directed THE COLOR OF TIME, a feature film about Pulitzer Prize winner C.K. Williams, starring James Franco, Jessica Chastain, Mila Kunis and Henry Hopper.
In July 2019, fantasy drama THE MOLOK was wrapped and is now going into post-production. It received grants and donations from ARRI, ABEL CINE, QUIXOTE, FOCUS GEAR & LACIE.
Also completed in 2019, Edna's own short film MOTHERHOOD, starring Marc Menchaca, is currently applying to festivals.
In Spring 2020, her rendition of COMBAT will be released, featuring unpublished segments from THE COLOR OF TIME.
